A Comparison of Traditional and Play-Based Learning Approaches in Early Years Education

Introduction:

Traditional and play-based learning approaches represent two distinct paradigms in preschool education. This work will compare the effects of traditional and play-based approaches on children’s development.

Comparison of Approaches:

Cognitive Development:

• Emphasis on literacy and numeracy versus focus on critical thinking and decision-making

Language Development:

• Structured language instructions will be compared to language acquisition through storytelling and play.

Social-Emotional Development:

• I will look at the natural development of empathy and emotional well-being through social interactions.
