Brief information about the Theoretical Paper
A theoretical paper entails a comprehensive analysis of a specific topic, demonstrating the student’s acquired knowledge. This type of paper is completed collaboratively, with groups consisting of no more than four students. The recommended length of the paper is 15 pages.
In the course of developing the paper, students are expected to delve deeply into a particular issue by utilizing and critically analyzing existing scientific literature. This process involves the systematic collection and analysis of relevant literature and data, the exploration of contemporary approaches to the topic, and the proper formatting of the paper. The theoretical paper should exemplify the theoretical knowledge gained by the students within the medical program and showcase their ability to apply this knowledge in practical contexts. Furthermore, students must articulate the current state of research on the specific scientific issue through rigorous, evidence-based reasoning and analysis.
Main Part
The main text of a thesis includes an introduction, a literature review and a conclusion.
a) A text must be typed on a standard A4 size paper
b) Font types: Calibri or Calibri Light;
c) Font size of the main text- 11
d) Font size of titles- 12
e) Spacing between lines: 1.0 interval
f) Text margins on a paper page- left- 2.5 cm, right- 2 cm, top- 2 cm, bottom- 2 cm
g) Page numbering – starts from the first page of the introduction (this will be the first page). The page number should be placed at the bottom right
Citation of Sources
Scientific literature review must be based on reliable sources. Reliability and validity of a source must be verified by an author using review, indexing of scientific journals and similar methods.
In the course of preparing a scientific paper, it is imperative to properly cite sources in the following instances:
- When directly quoting a source.
- When the author paraphrases or summarizes the ideas, opinions, conclusions, etc., of other authors in their own words.
- When the author explicitly references sources that substantiate their arguments and reasoning.
- When incorporating statistical data and factual information from other authors’ research (in such cases, it is essential to directly cite the original source of the statistical data).
Sources must be indicated in the following format (Bernet et al., 2021), or through Zotero system in AMA style (American Medical Association Style). Sources in a bibliography must be indicated in an alphabetic order.
Authenticity and plagiarism analysis
Authenticity of a thesis is checked through Turitin software. In case plagiarism is detected in a thesis (more than 30 % but no more than 50 %- plagiarism of medium level) a supervisor makes a decision about returning a thesis to a student for making corresponding amendments. A student is obliged to re-upload a revised thesis (in case he/she is authorized to do so) on a platform no later than the 22nd July. .
If more than 50 % of coincidence is detected in a thesis (rude plagiarism) during the first submission or if more than 30 % of coincidence is detected in case a thesis is re-submitted, a thesis is assessed as insufficient.
Final Part:
Completed project PDF version and hard copy (with reviver conclusion) must be submitted to the library no later than September 3rd. The project should be in A4 size and bound in a plastic spiral.
