Question-response paper guidelines
In this paper, you will approach writing as a process— from determining audience and purpose, through idea gathering, planning, writing and revising, to editing a final draft; you will locate multiple types of appropriate sources and incorporate multiple perspectives in discussion of an issue.
Instructions:
Select one of the research questions from the list below. Please keep in mind that you all need to “claim” a different question (first come, first served) by posting to the forum. In the subject line of your post to the forum, list the question that you have chosen. In the contents of that post, write 2-3 sentences of initial, informal ideas about how you might approach that question.
Once you have identified your question, begin to investigate it through research.
You will communicate the results of your research (your answer to the research question) in a paper of 1250-1500 words.
In order to succeed in this paper:
Make sure that you choose appropriate evidence from sources to effectively support a paper’s thesis and evaluate the authority, currency, relevancy and bias of sources. You also need to incorporate multiple perspectives in discussion of an issue.
You should take notes, including summaries paraphrases and quotes, which will effectively support a thesis-driven paper ply MLA documentation guidelines for parenthetical citations and works cited.
Your draft should reflect careful attention to the writing process; it needs to be well focused, well organized and well developed; make sure that you use language appropriate to audience and writing situation; and demonstrate a clear understanding of the subject under discussion.
