This unit, we have been discussing the use of social media as it relates to online activism. Gladwell believes that the internet is primarily useful for small, local, non-effective change. He believes that strong tie connections and high-risk activism is the most productive way to enact long term social change, as opposed to the weak tie, low risk activism that he believes the internet provides.

Write a 3-5 page essay, in correct MLA format, where you focus on a specific issue facing the world today and how social media either helps or hinders the solving of this issue. Please include at least 2 direct quotes from any of the readings or videos that have been assigned this semester to support whatever claim you are making.
