INDIVIDUAL Assignment

The purpose of this assignment is for you to analytically consider two project-based journal papers on a project management topic covered in this course. You will contrast and compare the main themes, arguments, theoretical foundations (if specified), theoretical claims or empirical findings, and conclusions in the papers. Your assignment should, as a minimum, clearly:

  • Find two papers from established project management journals (list below)
  • Identify the central problem(s) or issue(s) in the two papers
  • Provide a concise discussion of how the authors in the two papers consider the problem(s) or issue(s) in similar or different ways
  • Consider if the problem(s) or issue(s) appear to require further research or consideration (theoretical and practical); if so, in what ways
  • Discuss why the similarities or differences are relevant to a project management topic covered in this course

Your assignment should be 1500 words in length (+/- 10 percent), excluding references and appendixes, essay format, following APA 7th style conventions. As a guide, you’re expected to reference or use about 10-20 relevant, primary sources of information including peer reviewed, see Understanding what information you need. Assignment must be submitted in Moodle using Word format, double-spaced, Arial font size of 11 or 12 pt. Make sure your references follow APA 7th edition conventions. Students that use generative AI tools or similar platforms must insert the link to the generative text or image they used to help them with their assignment.

When analysing your journal papers, you’re expected to establish solid arguments, read the following book chapter: The Craft of Research: Making a good argument. It’s also recommended that you review Monash University’s Learn HQ website which has great learning resources.
