Title: Implicit Bias and Disproportionate Minority Contact: How School-Based Policing Affects Youth of Color
Investigate how race and ethnicity may influence law enforcement decisions within schools, including arrest rates, referrals to juvenile court, and use of discretion.
Students are required to submit a research paper in which they will analyze one issue related to law enforcement and juvenile offenders in a multicultural environment in the United States. This paper should have a minimum length of 6 pages and a maximum length of 10 pages, not including title page and references. The research paper should include and be organized in the following way: 1) Cover page, 2) describe the issue you are analyzing, its origins, and why is it important (2-3 pages); 3) explain what/who is that issue affecting and how it is doing so (2-3 pages); 4) state what has been done and could be done to solve it (2-3 pages), and 5) references (1 page). Students are required to cite at least 10 sources; at least four of those sources should be peer-reviewed articles (https://scholar.google.com/Links to an external site.). The paper should be written academically, in Times New Roman, 12 font, 1-inch margins, and following APA style.
