Assumptions:
· The chosen organization is a private entity based in Jamaica.
· The organization has made a technical and strategic decision to acquire and implement an MIS.
· The primary motivations for this MIS implementation are to improve operational efficiency, boost productivity, and increase profitability.
Requirement Students are required to address the following questions, drawing upon the identified organization and relevant MIS concepts:
1. How does the organization’s MIS implementation contribute to its competitive advantage in the Jamaican market or within its industry? Analyze this using a relevant competitive forces framework (e.g., Porter’s Five Forces, Value Chain Analysis) and provide specific examples of how the MIS directly impacts cost efficiency, differentiation, or innovation within the Jamaican business context (CLO1)
2. Discuss how the implemented MIS aligns with and supports the organization’s engagement in the current e-business environment (CLO2).
3. How might the Jamaican e-business landscape (e.g., internet penetration, digital payment adoption, regulatory environment) influence the effectiveness and evolution of this MIS? (CLO2)
4. Describe the key components of the IT infrastructure required to support the implemented MIS in your chosen organization (CLO3).
5. How might emerging technologies (e.g., cloud computing, AI, IoT) be further leveraged or integrated to optimize the organization’s IT infrastructure and enhance MIS capabilities? (CLO3)
6. In the context of the implemented MIS, identify and analyze at least two significant ethical concerns related to data management and information privacy. Propose strategies or safeguards the organization could implement to mitigate these ethical risks while still achieving its business objectives. (CLO4)
