Annotated Bibliography for the Argumentitive Essay:
Paying College Athletes: A Necessary Evolution in Sports and Education
Select four to five scholarly sources; at least three peer-reviewed journal articles, and up to two highly credible community, educational, or government sources. If you use generative AI as part of your research process, you must include your document and disclosure information as part of your submission.
Include PDFs of your sources with your submission OR provide a publicly accessible URL/DOI (permalink) as part of your citation. Links should go DIRECTLY to the journal article on the publisher’s website; those that go to a GALILEO login will not be accepted.
Task 2
Assess each of your four to five sources for credibility using the C.R.A.A.P. test, then answer our C.R.A.A.P. test worksheet questions for each source. You can download a copy of the C.R.A.A.P. test worksheet as a Word document, or copy and paste into Word or Google Docs from our GoVIEW C.R.A.A.P. test worksheet
. You may submit these C.R.A.A.P. tests with your assignment for an bonus of up to 5% added to your the Annotated Bibliography grade.
Task 3
Following the formatting shown in our Module 12 Reading: Annotated Bibliographies Explained and an Example, develop an annotated bibliography for your four to five sources.
For each of your sources, include the following:
1. An MLA formatted citation;
2. A summary of the content from the source in your own words, and including integrated direct quotes you may use in your essay (in quotation marks), with the page number, if applicable, as a parenthetical citation;
3. An evaluation of the source;
4. A synthesis of how this source relates to your other sources;
5. Your response to the source and how you will use it.
Remember, you must include each of the four to five sources you’ll use in Essay 4 in your annotated bibliography, and you must use full MLA formatting as per our example, including indentation and alphabetizing your sources.
You should NOT color code your annotated bibliography!
Grading Criteria
Completion of Tasks 1 and 2, with:
- A complete and well-written annotated bibliography;
- Complete and correct MLA formatting of your annotated bibliography;
- Full document and disclosure submissions for any use of generative AI;
- A complete and effective C.R.A.A.P. test assessment of each of your sources for the opportunity to earn up to a 5% bonus.
