Interprofessional Communication and Quality Care Delivery
Interprofessional communication and collaboration is when people from different disciplines of care exchange information to advance a common goal or outcome, toward quality care delivery of a person, condition, or healthcare system. Interprofessional communication within a profession allows for teamwork, the exchange of ideas, and innovative problem-solving across multiple disciplines. This communication impacts the organization’s quality of care delivery.
The advanced nurse role may require that education be developed or the need to implement a new policy via a presentation that impacts multiple disciplines and is patient-centered. In this assessment, you will illustrate the integration of communication that facilitates a partnership approach to quality care delivery. You will illustrate collaborative interactions in a professional manner using appropriate communication and presentation skills.
Assessment Instructions
Advanced nursing practice demonstrates leadership with the ability to communicate effectively and develop relationships. You will prepare an (audio-narrated) 8- to 12-slide Microsoft PowerPoint® presentation. You will focus on the integration of communication strategies and techniques that support and improve the efficacy of a partnership approach to quality care delivery. Further addressed is relationship building for the interdisciplinary team and ethical considerations in communication. Below are the slide titles to use. Demonstrate content from your text and investigate other sources to develop your presentation.
- Title slide (Title of presentation, your name, course, etc.)
- Introduction (Introduction to the content being presented.)
- Quality Care Delivery Defined (Define Quality Care Delivery. Address two Advanced-Level AACN Essentials, including an appropriate subtopic
- Quality Care Delivery Relationships (Provide two examples of what quality care is. Relate quality care to collaboration and the integration of health policy/ standards. Relate to your new role.)
- Facilitating Partnerships (Identify three examples of professional partnerships and/ or interprofessional collaboration team members. Relate facilitation to your new role.)
- Team Communication Integration (Describe two strategies or communication techniques for team communication. Address their use in facilitating team communication for interdisciplinary collaboration via two examples.
- Ethical Communication Integration (Describe two strategies or communication techniques useful in ethical situations. Address their use in facilitating partnership collaboration in ethical situations via two examples.)

Assessment Requirements:
- The minimal slide requirement is 8-12 slides of content. This does not include the title or reference slides. Some required topics may have more than one slide.
- Each slide should have audio narration.
- The presentation should be formatted so that it will “auto-play” without any need for observer interaction with the program.
- Utilize a design theme.
- Style: slides should not have large paragraphs of information but short sentences or bulleted information.
- Three (3) peer-reviewed sources are required (can be more than three references) within 5 years or less publication dates.
- Utilize spelling and grammar check to minimize errors.
- An introduction and conclusion are required and considered a standard requirement Use APA 7th edition.

Your assessment should:
- Align content with margins and not beyond.
- Have no blurred pictures or art.
- Be well-ordered, logical, and unified, as well as original and insightful.
- Display superior design, content, organization, style, and mechanics.

Minimum Submission Requirements

- This assessment should be a Microsoft PowerPoint (minimum 8-12 slides) presentation, in addition to the title and reference slides, with narration.
- Respond to the questions in a thorough manner, providing specific examples of concepts, topics, definitions, and other elements asked for in the questions. Your submission should be highly organized, logical, and focused.
- Your submission should provide a clearly established and sustained viewpoint and purpose.
- Your writing should be well-ordered, logical, and unified, as well as original and insightful.
- Your submission must be written in Standard English and demonstrate exceptional content, organization, style, grammar, and mechanics.
- A separate page at the end of your submission should contain a list of references in APA format. Use your textbook, the Library, and the internet for research.
- Be sure to include references for all sources and to cite them using in-text citations where appropriate. Your sources and content should follow current APA citation style. Review the writing resources for APA formatting and citation found in Academic Tools. Additional writing resources can be found within the Academic Success Center.
If the work submitted for this competency assessment does not meet the minimum submission requirements, it will be returned for revision. If the work submitted does not meet the minimum submission requirements by the end of the term, you will receive a failing score.
