Step 7.3 & 7.4 PowerPoint Ratio Selection & PPT Draft

Choose two of the ratio slides listed below. You are responsible for the preparation, scripting, and recording audio for your two slides. First come, first serve by replying to this discussion thread claiming your two slides. The team member who did the Step 7.2 template automatically has the Sales & Profitability ratio slide.

Ratio Slides Combinations

  • Sales & Profitability ratios [this slide done by the Step 7.2 volunteer]:
    • Sales
    • Gross profit
    • Operating income
    • Net income
  • Current, quick ratios, and working capital
  • Day’s operating cash on hand and current cash debt coverage
  • Inventory turnover ratio and days in inventory [use cost of product only for cost of goods sold; don’t use cost of services as they are NOT inventoried.]
  • Receivables turnover ratio and average collection period [Use trade or customer receivables, not other receivables.]
  • Debt to total assets ratio
  • Ratio of fixed assets to long-term liabilities
  • Cash debt coverage and free cash flow
  • Ratio of total liabilities to total stockholders’ equity
  • Times interest earned ratio
  • Earnings per share and price-earnings ratio [You will need to recalculate the P-E ratio for all your companies as of the current market price. Be sure to mention the date of re-calculation on the slide.]
  • Return on assets ratio
  • Fixed asset and asset turnover ratios
  • Dividend payout ratio and dividend yield
  • Return on common stockholders’ equity ratio

Reply to this discussion with the two ratios you chose. If most of your companies don’t have inventory or receivables or dividends, then those ratios should not be chosen.

Use the Step 7.2 template tailored to your group for your ratio slides. Create a NEW discussion for each of your ratio slides. The subject should be “Step 7.4 Ratio Title by Your Name”.

Additional Slide Instructions:

  • Do NOT Copy or Insert New Slides, but Duplicate slides.
  • Do not use Google slides, keep this PowerPoint in Microsoft Office.
  • Keep the PowerPoint scheme used in your team template, so they all look the same.
  • Repeat the latest year’s Sales Revenue at the top of every ratio table. Keep the column header and order the same for all the ratio slides.
  • Each member is to prepare TWO ratio slides. Note some slides may have more than one ratio. Slides must include, footnotes (ratio formulas), the script and matching audio.
  • Double check each other’s work for reasonableness, as you do not want a glaring error in your final presentation.
  • Add or delete rows as needed.
  • The speaker / presenter of a slide audio /script needs to mention their name at the beginning and insert their script on the face of the slide.

I chose

  • Current, quick ratios, and working capital
  • Debt to total assets ratio
