Discussion Board #2- Is Racism Still an Issue in America? ; Initial post Due Monday, 2/10 & Responses Due Friday, 2/14

ATTENTION STUDENTS REPEATING THIS COURSE: Some or all of the questions have changed for this discussion board.

Initial posting should be at least 300 words; two responses are required and each response should be at least 150 words.

Read the article “Since We Elected an African American President Twice, Is Racism Still an Issue in America?” on page 70 in your textbook. Use your own words when answering these questions.

Retype the questions in your post, followed by your answers.

Questions to be answered (Minimum 300 words):

1. After reading this article, has your opinion changed regarding the necessity (not necessarily the effectiveness) of using affirmative action policies and programs in an effort to establish racial equality in some instances? (Minimum 100 words) (8 pts)

2. What did you read in this article that surprised you the most? (Minimum 50 words) (4 pts)

3. How do Arab Muslims suffer biases and prejudices similar to African Americans in a post-911 America? (Minimum 150 words) (8 pts)

Directions:

a) Make your initial post, answering all questions carefully and observing the minimum word count. Then respond to two of your classmates in a professional and timely manner, while using critical thinking skills and your senior-level abilities. If you post your initial response at the last minute, your classmates will not have the opportunity to respond to your post. You may not receive full credit if you submit your initial post at the last minute.

b) The better and the more thorough the discussion between you and your classmates, the higher your grade will be.

c) An initial post and a minimum of two response posts are expected.

d) Do not use the same response post to any of your classmates. You will receive zero points for doing this.

e) The Performance Dashboard shows when you create your thread and response posts. If you post at the very last minute your instructor will know you are rushing.

f) Use professional grammar and spelling in this senior-level, core, capstone course.
