As I expressed at the beginning of this course, in this week’s video, and any time you’ll ever talk to me in person: networking is SO SO SO SO critical. It’s paramount. If you’re an emergency manager or BC professional, and you do not engage the larger community, you might as well not exist.
Whether you are in NYC, somewhere else in the states, or abroad, research one area in which you can network. Use Google, the content in these slides, or even ask me to help – but you must submit the following details for an opportunity that is actually at your disposal:
- Name of the group (can be a formal organization or an informal gathering, such as this one).
- What they offer (EM, BC, security, something!)
- How often they meet
- Where they meet
- The nature of their meetings (informal networking, structured program, what?)
