Recently one of your good friends has been diagnosed with cancer. One day you turn on the TV and a news anchor announces that we have found a cure for cancer. Your heart becomes filled with joy. However, as you continue to listen your joy turns into disbelief. The scientists who found the cure for cancer did so by kidnapping homeless people, holding them hostage, and performing all types of inhumane experiments on them. Thousands of homeless people were brutally killed during these experiments. Is it right from a moral standpoint for us to use such a cure considering that its discovery has been founded on the blood of many innocent people? Why or why not? Are the scientists who have discovered such a cure heroes or villains and what form of a reward or punishment should we bestow upon them?
