Background and research statement (2 points): these sections have already been submitted and graded; this is an opportunity to revise and strengthen. Points will be given for clear writing, logical citations, the use of a reference management software, and having implemented feedback from A2.
· Study design (5 points): Identify, explain and justify the type of evidence you will generate (explanatory, emancipatory, influence, predictive, exploratory or descriptive – see the Reader on HRH [link] for details) and the research methods (qualitative, quantitative, mixed-methods and specific methods within these categories such as focus groups, observation, surveys, secondary analysis of existing data, etc.).

· Data sources and sampling (3 points): Explain your data sources and sampling approach (who you will survey/interview, which documents you will examine, etc.), sample size, and how you will access the data.
· Data collection (2 points): provide an overview of the data collection timeline and tools (i.e., what the qualitative interview guide will cover, what modules the survey will include, etc.)
· Audience and engagement plan (3 points): Explain what the research will produce, who the research will be useful to, how the research will be shared with appropriate stakeholders, and how the findings from this research will improve the health system.
