Guidelines – Part B – Individual Assignment–
Students will write a short individual submission that explores culture as a determinant of health. The main thrust of this assignment is to demonstrate an understanding of how Registered Nurses can integrate cultural safety into the care of diverse communities. The assignment will be a minimum of 2 pages, maximum of 3 (not including title page and references). This challenges students to present ideas concisely. This paper must follow APA formatting guidelines, and include references that must be from peer reviewed scholarly sources. Through the assignment students will:
- Define a diverse community to be investigated
- Explain how culture is a determinant of health for this group
- Share what could be important to know in caring for a person from the diverse community investigated.
- Using a nursing perspective, the written component describes how the health and healing practices of the diverse community may influence nursing care decisions.
- Integrate scholarly literature
