By now, you know the various impacts poor nutrition has on global health, particularly in vulnerable populations such as women and children. You also know the contributing factors of malnutrition and some of the interventions used to address a variety of undernutrition and micronutrient deficiencies. One of those MNDs mentioned in our module content was Vitamin A. We discussed what foods contain this micronutrient, the recommended daily amount for healthy growth, development, and functioning, and the negative consequences of not consuming enough on a daily basis. So, what does a Vitamin A intervention look like in the real world when administered to children? Let’s take a look using this case study!
Be sure to incorporate information from your assigned readings and class lecture slides to help you analyze and comprehend the case study. This will give you a better understanding of this particular global health issue and program implementation, and assist you in determining if the program implemented: adequately addresses the health issue, meets the needs of the individuals involved, is cost effective, requires improvement, and can be used as a model for other areas of the country, or world, in addressing the specific global health concern.
