Application Assignment: Listing Research Question, Summarizing and Citing Sources

The purpose of this assignment is to lead you in planning and organizing the beginning stages of your literature review for your research proposal.  Refer to the resources posted below more information on the literature review process.  Refer to this websiteLinks to an external site. for assistance in proper use of APA style to format references. I find it easier to type in the browser, then choose Purdue Owl. For Example, “cite journal article APA”

The assignment has 3 parts:

1. List the research question(s) or hypotheses you selected for your action research proposal. Be concise so that the reader knows exactly what you will be researching.
   
2. Locate and post 3-5 research sources (i.e., peer reviewed journal articles, ERIC reports) related to your topic.  You may use the DSU library’s online databases DSU Library Search EngineLinks to an external site. and Google Scholar Google Scholar SearchLinks to an external site. to locate these sources. Use APA style to cite each full reference (author, title, date, publication, etc.).  If I do not have my Manual, I type a search in my browser, “APA cite a journal article.” Be sure to include the doi or URL. NOTE- You will need to cite 5 peer-reviewed sources in your research proposal to receive full credit for this category on the rubric.
   
3. Summarize each source by including research question(s), type of research (quantitative, qualitative, or mixed methods), intervention(s) (the independent variable), participants, experimental or quasi-experimental), a bit of methodology, and finding(s). Hint- Use the questions from the Article Critique to help you summarize.
