Americas – Africa
Theme: “Influences”
Our cases from the Americas and Africa are an example of how distance and/or time has an impact on the progression of art. They exemplify the process of how new art is formed through inspiration, sharing, creating and recreating across all fields of expression. Cases of artistic expression may be pulled from the past, experienced in the present, and/or projected into the future.
Choose one case of artistic expression from Africa and one from the Americas and compare them with these ideas in mind:
- How do these cases relate to the theme “influences?”
- How are the cases shared with others,
- What do they communicate,
- How might their influence extend into the future?
A strong comparison should include similarities and differences between the two cases chosen: one from the Americas, and one from Africa.
Comparisons will be evaluated on use of terminology (AmericasLinks to an external site. AfricaLinks to an external site.) from both cases you choose to cover, the use of details from both lessons to support your answer, and the inclusion of your experience with the artistic cases in your own words.
