It’s a thematic essay covering “Master Harold … and the Boys.” You create your own theme, which we’ve discussed, and you compose your essay.

1. Paper should be in MLA format

2. You should have a Works Cited using the class textbook as your source (you create your own citation)

3. Your thesis should be motif or theme-related with two prongs or ideas on how you will address your said theme or motif

4. You should create a color code key at the top of your paper; the parts in your paper that reflect the coordinating key should be highlighted accordingly. Here’s what you need to highlight:

1. Motif/theme (last sentence in introduction/like  thesis)

2. Quotes or paraphrase (one quote/paraphrase per paragraph)

3. literary devices (you should have at least one per paragraph, not including the motif)

4. Six (6) higher level vocabulary words (think high academic)

5. You should use small direct or indirect (summarizing) quotes. The page numbers should follow the citation (page numbers are at the bottom).
