This module has taught us that having access to clean and safe water, using proper sanitation facilities and services, and practicing good hygiene can all reduce the amount of preventable deaths in underdeveloped, and also poorer areas of developed, countries. And many of these problems can easily be fixed through community education, building and using basic facilities, and identifying challenges that can interfere with improved health outcomes. On a global scale, many of these concerns can be helped through global health partnerships and outreach, resource distribution, and allocation of funds to continue improving the health of not only the immediate community, but surrounding areas.
How can you help the global community in addressing WASH concerns? It’s time for you to take an international trip to rural Haiti and see what an individual may experience in their day-to-day living.
