Creating effective organizational development and change programs begin with the diagnosis and assessment of the needs in the context of the organization’s strategy. Though you may perceive a change as necessary, others may view the status quo as acceptable or even preferable. Stakeholders who support the idea of a change may differ in their definition of success.
The needs assessment also entails an analysis of organizational elements such as human resources, organizational culture, processes, and structure. Once assessed, it is possible to design and develop interventions that will achieve organizational change objectives. As a change agent, you must bring stakeholders together to achieve results, and be open to adjusting your vision for the outcome based on the findings of your needs assessment.
For this assignment, conduct a needs assessment for a possible change in your organization. Be sure to include:
- Describe the proposed change
- Why do you believe this change is needed?
- What organizational elements are likely to embrace this change?
- What organizational elements might be obstacles?
- Identify the key stakeholders who would be most affected by the change.
- Distinguish whose support is needed to implement the change.
- What steps might you take to understand how these key stakeholders view the issue or dilemma? How might you gather input from them?
- What will you do with the information you gather?
- How would you incorporate mindfulness, dialogue, and collaboration?
Mechanics: Create a technology-based presentation with audio narration and speaker notes (Prezi, PPT, Google, Articulate, Captivate, Haiku Deck, etc..). Provide a minimum of five sources supporting your approach. These can be assigned course readings or credible sources identified through independent research.
Youโll construct a PowerPoint presentation with detailed speaker notes. It focuses on an organizational development needs assessment involving a change initiative you will create. It has nine assignment elements. To sufficiently cover the key learning objectives of this assignment, the presentation should be from 12-15 slides , not counting title slide or reference citations slide which should be presented at the end.
Best presentation practices involve placing bullet points with images on the slides that illustrate the point youโre making, and then speaker notes of about 150 words each which appear directly below each slide (some slides may contain more than 150 words, while others may contain less, but balanced out, make sure sufficient detail is attached to each slide) (each slide except title slide and citations slide should include speaker notes) .
