In “The Hip-Hop Wars” by Tricia Rose, she explains Six Guiding Principles, one of them being “We Live in a Market Economy. Don’t Let it Live in Us.” By this, she means Many critics of American society believe that we place too much value and emphasis on fame and fortune instead of the collective well-being of all citizens. Many people live in scarcity, while a privileged few are lauded as more important than the rest. Rap is very much a microcosm of society in this aspect, as our capitalist economy causes musicians to chase their own glory rather than make changes for all people.
Explain the significance of this idea in relation to “Straight Outta Compton”
