You will choose a historical or current phenomenon to analytically answer the questions.
- Pick a phenomenon and analyze it in regards to the topic
- Identify the themes from your phenomenon (e.g. certain transnational perspective) and narrow it
down (e.g., transnational development of beauty standards). - Identify and explain the conversation that’s being had about the phenomenon you are focusing on
in your project (general public discourse): - a. Provide 2-5 news/article links and provide bibliographical information (this will be part of
the bibliography page). - b. What is being focused on in the non-scholarly platforms?
i. Likely around 75-150 words - Identify and explain the scholarly conversation that’s being had about the theme of your project
(e.g., what do existing scholarly literature say about the theme?). - a. Provide 2-5 scholarly literature article bibliographical information (this will be part of the
bibliography page). - i. You can read the abstracts to figure out the base of the article.
ii. Use the library and/or scholar.google.com to look for articles—don’t just google on
the regular page (if accessing from home, you’ll want to use UCLA’s vpn) before
using it.
