Pick one of the common characteristics to all the arts during the Baroque period (Emotionalism, Psychological Exploration or Virtuosity) and support it with well-developed examples, One Each from visual art/sculpture, music, and literature. Use the materials and texts included in both your textbook and in the files posted under Module 4 (Chapter 15) on Bb to support your thesis. The interactive files include poetry and music files, which are not included in the C&V textbook.
Essay: In terms of length, your essay should be 500-750 words long. Support your thesis with specific examples taken from the C&V textbook, the assigned readings, and the notes/information posted on Blackboard. Unsupported answers will receive little or no credit, and vague answers will be graded down. To support your answers, you may use your Culture and Values textbook as well as the materials posted in the Module 4 (Chapter 15) under βContent.β DO NOT USE OUTSIDE SOURCES.
Organization: Follow standard essay format: begin with an Introduction, which will include your clearly-stated thesis; support your thesis in well-developed body paragraphs. Conclude your essay with a well-developed conclusion.
- First Paragraph – Introduction with BRIEF background, a listing/outline of the examples you will examine, and a clearly stated thesis .
- Second Paragraph – First example (Visual Art) with specifics from the work itself and quotations that support a clear, direct connection to your thesis
- Third Paragraph – Second example (Literature) with specifics from the work itself and quotations that support a clear, direct connection to your thesis
- Fourth Paragraph – Third example (Music) with specifics from the work itself and quotations that support a clear, direct connection to your thesis
- Fifth Paragraph – Conclusion that clearly restates your thesis and summarizes how each of the examples clearly proves/shows that your thesis was correct.
