Pharmacology Portfolio
The Pharmacology Portfolio page gives students
the ability to creatively demonstrate their learning in relation to the
following topic.
- Students are to select a medication and a condition/disease for
which the medication is prescribed.
My Chosen medication
is Metoprolol (Australian
resources and references to be used please)
Follow the instructions below
carefully to ensure you meet all requirements. Based on the chosen medication
students are required to:
Discuss the pharmacokinetics and
the mechanism of action (pharmacodynamics) of the
medication and outline the medication management
processes, focusing specifically on:
- Prescription
- Preparation
- Administration
- Monitoring and
- Safety of the medication
Using these sub-headings
students are required to link their research back to their chosen medication
and the condition/disease.
Students should use appropriate
resources to assist, examples of resources but not limited to are: National
Quality and Safety Healthcare Service (NQSHS) Standards, Medication Handbook,
Textbooks, MIMS and similar. Students are also encouraged to use images, short
video clips or links to relevant resources (these need to be appropriately
referenced) that will assist to further demonstrate understanding.
Word count for the portfolio
page is 1000 (+/- 10%) words. Content must be supported by
literature through in-text citation and reference list with publications within
the last 5-10yrs, ensure that all referencing follows APA 7th ed. referencing
techniques and included on your portfolio page.
