Discussion Board 12: Trifles Written Analysis
Learning Outcome: Analyze, interpret, and evaluate a variety of texts for the ethical and logical uses of evidence by responding to literature with rational judgements supported by evidence.
Purpose: Students will be able to not only answer the question or questions being asked but will be able to support their answer with evidence from the text.
Trifles is ostensibly dominated or controlled by the males in the play (even though, on a different level, the women are really calling the shots [or should we say, “are wearing the breeches”?]). Identify the gender assumptions of the male characters in the play and describe their “maleness.”
You will develop a paragraph that answers the questions and provides textual evidence. These paragraphs should be fully developed and should be between 5 to 7 sentences minimum. You will include text evidence from your selected poem and a works cited entry at the end of your response. Then you will respond to at least two of your peers.
