Important Information
3) An annotated bibliography of A) at least one credible source, B) at least one additional scholarly source, C) an assigned reading from the class, and D) a primary source example of the artists’ work (for a total of 4 sources). Each annotation should be in your own words. (Example: If I am going to present on Solange’s musical lyrics, I would write- ‘I will use Introduction to Black Studies, “Black Creative Production” pages 374-380 to provide background information on Rhythm and Blues and Hip Hop lyrics as vehicles of political content. The information in the book provides a basic overview. I plan to use another credible source such as journalist Carrie Battan’s 2016 New Yorker magazine article titled “Solange Knowles’s Album of Black Life in America” and “Reimagining Religious Education for Young, Black, Christian Women: Womanist Resistance in the Form of Hip-Hop” by Tamara Henry to provide more detail about Knowles’s lyrics as examples of resistance.) Additional information- According to the The Purdue OWL website “A bibliography is a list of sources (books, journals, websites, periodicals, etc.) one has used for researching a topic. Bibliographies are sometimes called “references” or “works cited” depending on the style format you are using. [You should use the Chicago or Turabian styled format at the end of your project.] A bibliography usually only includes the bibliographic information (i.e., the author, title, publisher, etc.).” An annotated bibliography includes a summary and/or evaluation of each of the sources. Your annotations should summarize each of your scholarly sources. They should be relevant to your topic. The length of your annotations should be one paragraph for each of your sources for a total of at least four sources. (Please note that more sources do not necessarily equate to more points. Be sure to submit well-written, relevant, quality, scholarly, correctly-formatted sources.) A paragraph should be 5-8 sentences long. Your paragraph should paraphrase or summarize your sources in your own words. Do not copy and paste phrases, sentences, or whole paragraphs from sources or other papers. Plagiarized bibliographies will receive a grade of zero (F). Submit your project proposal for the final project here as a Word, Rich Text, or PDF file.
