- Clearly identify the speech in the introduction and use quotes from the talk/transcript as evidence.
- Include a persuasive thesis statement of the author’s purpose and whether or not that was achieved in the speech.
- Consider how the speaker uses logos, ethos, pathos, kairos (and perhaps some figurative language!) to convey their message and the purposes behind the choices they make (in writing and speaking).
- Make sure that writing supports a thesis about elements and messages of the text.

Your essay should be at least 3-4 pages of text, double-spaced and a Works Cited page.
Use MLA page formatting as outlined in class.
Genre Format:
Introduction—introduce the topic, state thesis, establish the argumentative conversation to which this argument is contributing
Body-–develop the thesis through supportive information; provide well-organized paragraphs
Conclusion—emphasize the thesis, highlight the points of the argument, and provide a sense of completeness
