Scholarly Paper – 25% of the final grade

This written assignment is designed to address the student’s ability to synthesize and critique current literature to address a topic relevant to nursing informatics.  This is an independent student assignment.  The assignment will be submitted in the assignment section of the course.

The paper should be a minimum of 8 pages and a maximum of 10 pages, double spaced, excluding references and bibliography

Select a specific electronic health record application (such as electronic documentation) in which you are interested in learning about its relevance to patient safety. 

It is the expectation that you do a comprehensive review of 5 articles on the specific application and what has the authors found in terms of the impact on patient safety.

Critique the evidence identifying the strengths and gaps in the literature that you reviewed.
